Design garage for car and motorcycle collectors
If you collect cars and you are looking at a villa on the Costa Blanca, the garage stops being a detail and becomes the main buying criterion. Our current catalogue has two new-build properties that solve this in very different ways:
- Villa Vega (El Albir, €3,950,000): a designed garage in the semi-basement for 4 to 7 vehicles, with an electric charger, motorised doors and two further outdoor spaces. The house has 830.55 m² built, a 1,126 m² plot and a 198 m² solarium.
- Villa Zen Infinity (Benidorm, €2,825,000): a two-car garage with charger and automatic sectional door; the parking layout can be reconfigured to increase capacity up to seven spaces, subject to technical review.
- Both are finished, furnished and rated energy class A. The first treats the garage as the core of the house; the second leads with its private spa and the views.
- What really protects a collection’s value is not the number of spaces: it is humidity, temperature, ventilation and security in the space where the car sleeps. That is where money is made or lost.
What a collector actually checks in a garage
A classic or high-end car does not wear out from use: it deteriorates in storage. On the Costa Blanca, with high average humidity and salt-laden air within a few kilometres, the enemy is silent corrosion in the underbody, mounts and wiring. That is why, when we take a collector client to a viewing, we check these points before the bedrooms:
- Clear height and access: a 2.20 m sectional door rules out many cars with roof bars or a rear wing. Measure the tallest vehicle in the collection, not the most common one.
- Turning radius and ramp gradient: taking a sports car with 12 cm of ground clearance into a semi-basement demands a gently graded ramp with no abrupt crest.
- Ventilation and dehumidification: a sealed garage with no air renewal traps moisture. Mechanical ventilation is the sensible minimum, and for a second home, a dehumidifier with a drain.
- Stable temperature: a below-ground semi-basement is your best ally, because it holds temperature far better than a surface garage.
- Power supply: an EV charging point, but also a separate consumer unit and sockets for battery maintainers (trickle chargers) at every bay.
- Security: motorised doors, internal and external alarm with cameras, security doors and glazing. Direct access from garage to house is convenient; that access should have its own lock.
- Drainage: below ground, a drain and a sump pump are basic maintenance, not a luxury.
Villa Vega, El Albir: the garage as the centrepiece
Villa Vega is currently the property in our catalogue that best fits a collector profile. It sits on a 1,126 m² plot in the elevated residential area of El Albir (L’Alfàs del Pi), with panoramic views over the bay, and is arranged over three levels linked by a three-stop lift.
The semi-basement is the interesting part. Alongside a wine cellar, a large multi-purpose room and a plant room, it houses a designed garage for four to seven vehicles, fitted with an electric charger and motorised doors. Outside, the villa adds parking for two more cars. In total the property can store between six and nine cars, which is unusual on a plot of this size in El Albir.
The rest of the house holds up. The main floor has 4 bedrooms, all with full en-suite bathrooms, plus a guest toilet, living-dining room with fireplace, open-plan kitchen and a utility gallery with outside access. The living room is column-free, with 3.15 m ceilings and electrically operated windows that open onto the terrace and pool. Above, a 198 m² solarium with an outdoor gas fireplace, pergola and flush-fitted jacuzzi.
Technically: aerothermal heating with underfloor heating across the main floor, zoned air conditioning, full home automation for lighting, climate, blinds and motorised windows, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, solar panels and an energy class A certificate. The pool is saline, heated, with an automatic cover and self-cleaning system. The garden has automatic irrigation and a protected dragon tree over 200 years old.

Villa Zen Infinity, Benidorm: views, spa and a reconfigurable garage
Villa Zen Infinity answers a different profile: the collector who also wants a second home in intensive use. It sits in the Coblanca urbanisation on the hillside of Benidorm, with sea and mountain views from every room, including all four bedrooms.
A 1,759 m² plot carries 535.80 m² built (422.62 m² of interior usable space and 141.05 m² of terraces). The house has 4 en-suite bedrooms and 7 bathrooms in total, two of the suites opening onto private terraces.
The garage as built takes two vehicles, with an electric car charger and an automatic sectional door. The parking layout can be reconfigured to increase capacity up to seven spaces, an option worth reviewing with the technical team before completion, because it affects the basement layout and the electrical installation.
Where this villa stands apart is the rest of the programme: an infinity pool with saline electrolysis and LED lighting, a private indoor spa with jacuzzi, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna, home automation controlled from tablet or phone, underfloor heating, Airzone zoned climate control, a private lift, heat-recovery ventilation and 19 photovoltaic panels rated 9.8 kWp that earn it an energy class A rating.

Side by side: which one fits your collection
- If the collection is the project (4, 5, 6 cars, a cellar, room to restore or store parts): Villa Vega, with its designed semi-basement garage, wine cellar and dedicated plant room. It is the only one of the two that solves storage as standard.
- If the collection is two or three cars and holiday use matters more: Villa Zen Infinity brings the spa, the infinity pool and the views, with a two-car garage and room to expand.
- If running costs matter: in both, class A and solar power cut the bill, which counts because a climate-controlled garage draws power constantly.
- If you are buying from outside the EU: allow for the NIE, a Spanish bank account and an independent lawyer from day one. At SAGA every client is assigned a lawyer.
- If you are buying through a company or a structure: the tax analysis of the purchase and of ownership changes; review it before the reservation, not after.
Common mistakes when buying a house for cars
- Counting spaces without counting manoeuvring. Seven bays in a straight line are not seven usable bays if getting the car at the back out means moving three others.
- Forgetting door height. It is the most expensive mistake and it is usually spotted too late.
- Not planning for charging. If half the collection is electric or hybrid within five years, the basement installation falls short.
- Ignoring damp. Costa Blanca salinity bites sooner than people expect; a dehumidifier with a drain costs very little against restoring an underbody.
- Buying without an up-to-date land registry extract. Charges, easements and registered areas must match what is signed.
- Not checking the licence and planning status of the basement. A below-ground floor used as a garage has ventilation and access requirements that must be in the project.
Frequently asked questions
How many cars really fit in Villa Vega? The semi-basement garage is designed for four to seven vehicles depending on the configuration chosen, and the villa adds two outdoor spaces. Final capacity depends on car size and whether room is kept for a workshop or storage.
And in Villa Zen Infinity? As standard, the garage takes two vehicles with an electric charger and an automatic sectional door. The layout can be reconfigured to expand to seven spaces, which needs technical review because it affects the basement and the electrical installation.
Can I charge an electric car at both villas? Yes. Villa Vega includes a charger in the garage; Villa Zen Infinity includes one too. In both cases, check the contracted power and whether it is worth increasing.
Can a car lift be installed? It is a common solution as a collection grows. It requires sufficient clear height, slab reinforcement and a structural review. It is not a decision to take after completion.
Does a private garage affect home insurance? Yes, and the car policy too. A car kept in a closed private garage is usually treated better than one parked on the street. Both policies are worth reviewing.
What taxes apply when buying these villas? As new build in the Valencian Community, 10% VAT plus roughly 1.5% stamp duty, on top of notary and registry fees. That is an estimate: every transaction has its own details.
Can I view them if I am travelling from abroad? Yes. We arrange viewings by appointment, including weekends, and can plan a route covering both properties on the same day.
